I Had To Smile

This morning I put fresh orange juice on my cereals. That’s not a sentence I ever expected to write, but it’s true, I did.
In my defence it was still quite dark and perhaps I wasn’t fully awake, or it could just be the beginning of the end. On the other hand it could be the fact I’d bought some different brands and the ‘Alpro’ and Orange juice packaging were very similar.
Either way, I wouldn’t recommend it as a new flavour combination. It didn’t make me smile at all.
However the thing that did make me smile was during an episode of ‘You’ve Been Framed’ (you see ‘Judge Judy’ isn’t my only guilty pleasure). It amazes me how some of the people shown in the clips don’t break their necks or worse.
Fortunately the ‘clip’ in question posed no threat to life or limb. It was in fact a small girl, maybe 4 or 5 years old, whose parents were teaching her numbers.
They’d written all the numbers in bold black lettering on small cards and were holding each one up in a random order and asking the little girl to identify them.
She was doing really well too, until she got to number eleven.
Without a moments hesitation, in a strong clear voice she answered ‘pause’.
Even when they tried to correct her she was adamant it wasn’t number eleven it was ‘pause’. When you think about it, what else could any self-respecting 21st century toddler say when you show them this II.
I had to smile.
