Goldilocks

Remember back in December when I dug up and stored the ‘Lucifer’ corms and how a month later I had to dig out the ones I’d stored in the ground because they were still in the way?

Yesterday I decided it was time to see if my winter storage had been successful. Had they been too damp or too dry or “somewhere in-between”?

Well, I’m pleased to report that my winter storage has been ‘just right’, because most of them appear to have survived. Whether they will now survive being disturbed once again and replanted only time will tell.

Thanks to my ‘Goldilocks’ storage I have been able to plant out several clumps into the garden and have still got several pots as ‘back-up’.

Here you can see the beginnings of a rudimentary flower bed along the front of ‘Adrian’s Wall’ (see what I did there?)

Alongside the ‘Lucifers’ we have Aquilegia, which seed themselves freely throughout the garden and Japanese Anemones which also seem to do well here.

It might not look much to you, but to me this is a huge leap forward and I have high hopes of this being a spectacular border next year and in the years to come.

What I need now is some decent weather and some grass seed.
