The back door on the porch was falling apart and had been for some time. Renovating the porch was going to be the last ‘big’ job at ‘Grassy Bottom’ and was due to go ahead later this year, but sadly that won’t be happening now, however I couldn’t ignore the door which was quite frankly a disgrace.

Well, I’m sure we’re all familiar with that old chestnut. For those of you who aren’t the answer is ‘2 in the front and 2 in the back’. However, you might not be quite as familiar with this riddle. How do you get a large suitcase in the boot of a Mazda MX5 convertible? Any ideas? Well the short answer is, you don’t!

Last week I went to the local hospital for a chest X-ray. It didn’t take long, less than 20 minutes from entering the hospital to trying to find my way out again. Even the car park was simple to understand, but what happened in the next car park I went in was a little harder to fathom.

Did you know that bereavement can affect your immune system? No I didn’t either, but it seems it can and it does and it has undoubtedly affected mine. There I was thinking I was coping reasonably well whilst all the time, in the background, my own immune system was plotting against me. And boy did it mean business.

Well this is the time when I usually take stock and look back on the year that is coming to an end. Not in my worst nightmare did I ever think that 2018 would turn out like it has. Peter passed away in September, and since then I’ve had a burst pipe in the kitchen one of the worst coughs/colds of my entire life and now I’ve got a bad chest infection.

A couple of weeks ago I took some bottles down to the glass recycling bins in the village. There was a young man there with a little girl, maybe 3 or 4 years old, and he had lifted her up and was letting her post the bottles through the holes into the bins.
