Decorating

Having assembled my tools and equipment, attached the ceiling rose and taken time out to help trim the ivy around the bus stop, I had no choice left but to start decorating.
For me it’s very much a ‘Mastermind’ moment, “I’ve started so I’ll finish” and I have to work up to it, sneak up on it almost. And so one Monday morning I put on my YouTube playlist, bit the bullet and began.
The whole house needs doing but I’d decided to start in the living room. The walls were all dark brown, which made it appear very drab. Here is the agent’s photo for the online brochure, (obviously taken on a sunny day with a wide-angled lens)
and here we have it shortly after I’d moved in.
The dark brown just had to go.
As you can see I opted for a dramatic colour change and was very pleased to find that 2 coats were enough to cover up the drabness,
and as with a lot of things you don’t fancy doing, once I’d started I quite enjoyed myself, ably assisted by Suki and Grayson.
Poppy preferred to stay out of the way and went upstairs to bed.
The window bottom put up a bit of a fight,
but I won in the end, and with the ceiling rose now sporting a smart new (old) lampshade,
things were starting to come together. Even Judge Judy approved!!
I certainly do.
The pieces of paper stuck either side on the fireplace are for a future project. Watch this space.
