Hugh Knew

Each weekday, as we have our tea, we watch ‘Pointless’. It used to be ‘Weakest Link’ and before that ‘Fifteen to One’, I can’t remember any further back, but I expect there was another similar one.
My ‘general knowledge’ is good, but not outstanding, though I do sometimes get one over on Alexander Armstrong, which always makes me feel clever. Peter and I don’t compete as such, but we do try and throw in the odd ‘pointless’ answer occasionally.
I quite enjoy the ‘picture’ round towards the end, but because my brain and mouth don’t communicate as quickly as they once did, I try to get ahead of the game by thinking of possible answers before I see the pictures, based solely on the title of the category.
The other day the category was ‘Famous Hughs’. This should be good I thought and immediately rattled off 4 in my head who I was sure would appear. As it turned out none of them did which didn’t bode well.
When the 5 actual photos came on the screen, I knew all of them even before the contestants had time to speak a word. I was well impressed with myself.
The 5 in question (in no particular order) were, Hugh Jackman (Australian actor); Hugh Gaitskell (Labour MP 1906 – 1963) ; Hugh Hefner (US playboy); Hugh Pym (BBC journalist) and Hugh Grant (English actor).
So there we are, I’m almost 63 years old and I’ve just discovered my ‘specialist subject’.
Hugh knew!!
