It was 04.30am in Aberdeenshire on the Tuesday morning of my return home. We were to be up early so I could catch my train, not that early, but I needed the loo. Nothing unusual in that. (It’s an age thing)

When you think of Scottish wildlife you think deer, pine martens, red squirrels, dolphins and the like, and I would have been truly made up to have seen any one of these during my recent trip, but sadly I didn’t.

Last week I spent 5 days visiting my sister and her husband in Scotland, about 45 miles west of Aberdeen to be precise. Apart from falling down the stairs, which I will write about later and despite some pretty frisky weather, I had a great time.
