About 18 months ago I sowed some Carnation seeds. They germinated reasonably well and last Summer I planted about half a dozen small plants in the border by the drive. I wasn’t too bothered when they didn’t flower last year as I guessed they needed time to get established.

First of all I should say that I’m no-ones idea of a political animal, but I do take a keen interest in current affairs. Secondly I should point out that my opinions of Mr Trump are based entirely on what I have seen in the media which may, or may not, be a true reflection of his personality.

I don’t have a great record when it comes to buying plants by post. As far back as 2009 at Ravendale House I was getting disappointed by poor quality plug plants but despite that, as recently as last year, I still hadn’t learned my lesson, buying ’20 special offer’ fuchsias.

After the first few games in the group stage two thing had become apparent. The standard of football being played was excellent and, with the exception of Belgium, the BIG teams were struggling to find their form in no small part due to the so called ‘smaller’ football nations punching above their weight.
Football – Grassy Bottom Style

I realise not everyone enjoys(?) football as I do, and I really feel for ‘non-believers’ as the TV schedules are taken over by the ‘beautiful game’ during big competitions.
However, you can’t get away from the fact that millions of people world wide love it, so I thought I’d take a look back at the fortunes of the England team in major competitions since we moved to ‘Grassy Bottom’.

A few months ago I touched briefly on the subject of ‘Art’ and how it can be very subjective. I’m sure we’ve all heard the expression “I don’t know anything about art, but I know what I like”. Well to some degree the same can be said about poetry.
