One Year On

Last Tuesday it was exactly 1 year since building work started here at ‘Grassy Bottom’. If I knew then what I know now, I’d probably have run a mile! So what progress have we made?
Well, the major building work is behind us, but we do still need a kitchen. We ordered it 8 weeks ago and I was hoping it would be here by Easter, but this is looking increasingly unlikely.
There is also a huge amount of decorating to be done.
So with that in mind we set off this week to do yet another ‘paint’ shop, a task which we’re both beginning to hate. I mentioned before that I have more screws than ‘B&Q’, well when it comes to paint I think I can run them a close second.
We go out, we buy paint, we come home but we still need more paint. What’s that about?
Anyway, whilst we were out we tried to buy a brass, ball catch for the shower room door. ‘The Range’ didn’t have any, ‘Wickes’ had a pathetic plastic specimen for about £4, and by the time we got to ‘B&Q’ we were so fed up we forgot to look!!
On returning home Peter went on the website of an ironmongers we had known in our home town of Halifax. He ordered a brass catch and it was delivered 2 days later for the bargain price of £1.85.
“How do they do that for the price?” asked Peter. “There must be catch to it!” Boom, Boom!! See what he did there?
