Red Letter Day

Today was a ‘red-letter’ day at Grassy Bottom. After months of digging and destruction it was the day we’ve been waiting for, as it means we’re near the end of a very big job.
Today the gravel arrived.
I will probably be writing in more detail about the gravel at a later date (I bet you can’t wait!) but for now I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
At 8.30am 20 tons of gravel arrived from Matlock, Derbyshire, (he’d set off at 6am) as Peter and Brett look on,
then David joined them,
for the last push.
Then the hard work began,
as Adrian and Tony brought their wheel barrows.
‘Mole hills’ started to appear outside the garage.
At one point I was going to join in with my bucket and spade, but it started to rain. (Excuse the reflection of my shirt in the glass.)
Despite the rain, by lunchtime it looked like this,
and by the time the ‘heavy mob’ arrived the sun had come out.
