Is It A Bird, Is It a Plane – – – – – ?

Cast your mind back to March 2014, before all the work started, when we still had a separate pantry and the only means of getting upstairs was by Gladys’s ladder.

In the weeks that followed we knocked down the pantry wall and installed a proper staircase.

Since then we’ve been struggling to fit out and decorate what has turned into a very big dining kitchen.

I’m pleased to say we’re almost there, but as I can’t take a photo of the whole thing, and as bits of it still aren’t properly finished, I’m going to tackle it in sections.

Remember what an ugly mess it was around the window and the right-hand wall after the pantry wall and shelves had been removed?

After it had been re-plastered we muddled along with it painted white until now.

Can you guess where I’m going with this?

Is it a bird?

I’m thinking of applying to the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ for the biggest ‘what-not’ shelf in history!

I don’t know at this point exactly which of our ‘what-nots’ it will hold, so for now it’s home to a few small bottles.

Meanwhile the meter cupboard is doing it’s job beautifully, hiding the unsightly electric meters.

They say that the show isn’t over until the fat lady sings, and for this particular corner of the project the ‘fat lady’ consists of hanging the curtains, which need shortening first.

However, as Peter hasn’t finished drilling holes in the walls on the far side of the room, the ‘fat lady’ will have to wait a little while yet.
