Blue Suede Shoes

You never know what you’re going to get when you go to Skegness, last time it was motor bikes and cricket, our latest visit had more of a musical theme.

I’m pleased to announce that Elvis is alive and well and performing outside a bar just off Skegness seafront, or at least he was on Sunday afternoon.

Sadly I also have to report that he looked and sounded a shadow of his former self, and I wouldn’t want to get too close to the jump-suit either if you know what I mean, but at least he made us smile and gave us a good start to the day.

Here he is, not quite in ‘full Vegas gear’ but you get the idea.

A little further up the street we came upon 2 Peruvian chaps in fantastic costumes playing traditional music on pan-pipes. Strangely it was they who were wearing the ‘Blue Suede Shoes’. They reminded us of a happy day we’d spent in York a few years ago.

I made a video of them on my Smart phone which I’d love to share with you, but until I fathom out how to post it on YouTube, you’ll have to make do with these photos.

A stroll on the promenade

followed by an ice cream was a lovely way to end the day. By the time we got back to the car, Elvis had left the building!
