26 Years

Having recently recovered from a bad back, I’m continuing with decorating the new hall. It used to be Gladys’s kitchen, but I doubt she’d recognise it now.

Photos of the finished product will follow in due course.

Having done the initial coats of emulsion on the walls and ceiling, I’ve turned my attention to the staircase, bannister, spindles, newel posts etc.

The last time I painted a staircase was back in 1988. I was decorating the hall then because we’d had our car stolen and the insurance company took weeks to pay out. As a result we didn’t have any wheels and I needed something to do at weekends whilst Peter was at work.

Fast forward 26 years and here I am again, painting a staircase. A simple if boring job. However when one lens falls out of your glasses when you’re half way up a staircase with a 2.5 ltr pot of ‘proper paint’, you realise ‘boring’ is a good thing.

Meanwhile outside we had our first ‘Grassy Bottom’ snow.
