Whitby 2017

Posted By on 25th August 2017

Yesterday we made our annual pilgrimage to Whitby, one of our favourite seaside resorts. The weather could have been better, but it was good enough to give us a lovely day.

The journey over the North York Moors was spectacular as ever made even more beautiful by the heather which was in full bloom.

We tried the ‘Park and Ride’ for the first time and it was every bit as good as the one in Scarborough, though unlike theirs it is only open from Easter to October.

It dropped us off at the top of West Cliff where we encountered Captain Cook

and several Morris Dancers.

Over the next few hours we would be making our way to the Abbey seen here through the famous whale bone arch,

but first ice cream, fish and chips and a 30 minute boat ride which were all excellent.

We’re still fit enough to make it up the 199 steps to the iconic Abbey, so here’s this years photo just to prove it.

A round trip of 184 perfect miles in a perfect car.
