The Birth Of A Kitchen

Posted By on 13th September 2015

They say that good things come to those who wait, and that has certainly been the case with our kitchen which has taken over 12 months to complete. Here we have the story in pictures.

April 2014 Danny blocked up the door to the old bathroom and began extending the existing wall,

which will form the main part of our new kitchen.

After plastering and a couple of coats of white emulsion, temporary facilities were put in place.

These continued until just before Xmas when the French cabinet arrived.

We ordered the other cabinets in January. They arrived mid April 2015,

were painted in short order and the work-tops oiled.

Then we painted the wall,

and put the cabinets in place.

Sadly, we had to wait for the replacement shelves to arrive which took a further 4 weeks.

Meanwhile on the opposite wall work had also been taking place. In May 2014 Danny had built an arch in the old fireplace,

to accommodate the cooker.

And so, finally, at the beginning of September we had a kitchen, except for the floor covering, which is turning into a story of it’s own. Watch this space!
