Schlumbergera

Our Schlumbergera, or to give it it’s more common name Christmas Cactus, has always had a bit of an identity crisis. We must have had it 30 years, and I can never remember it flowering at Xmas.

I’ve come close to losing it on a few occasions, but despite these close calls it still manages to flower every year, usually in February.

Since moving it has been sat in the porch, baked in July, freezing cold in December. Watered sporadically, fed tomato food randomly, spending months on end covered in a thick layer of brick/plaster dust.

But that must be what makes it happy, because this year just look at it. Full of flowers and buds, right on cue.
