Cat Repellent

As a life long cat lover ‘cat repellent’ is something that I’ve never bought, indeed those who know me well would expect me to buy the exact opposite if such a thing existed in an aerosol spray. But needs must.

A couple of weeks ago we took delivery of 2 rather splendid wooden benches for the garden. You can see one of them here,

it faces south making an ideal place to sit first thing in the morning and, having done his morning rounds, Leonard often enjoys sitting with me. All good.

The trouble is he also enjoys sharpening his claws on it. Not so good.

That is why on Saturday we found ourselves in a well known D.I.Y superstore looking at ‘cat repellent’.

We chose some for just under £5 which promised ‘this product contains natural aromatic plant oils to deter cats from digging, scratching etc.’

Does it work?

Well, if I were to tell you that when I was applying it to the benches Leonard helped, that might give you a clue as to it’s efficacy, and whilst he was completely untroubled by the process it sent me into a violent coughing and sneezing fit.

Have we been sold a pup? (Perhaps that should be kitten.)
