April Showers

‘April showers’ might bring ‘May flowers’, but they don’t do anything to advance the cause of an outdoor job. It’s been a disappointing, ‘stop-start’ kind of week.

As it turned out the roof trusses didn’t arrive until Friday, so no meaningful work could have been done on the garage anyway.

Between the showers Adrian continued to put the top course on the retaining wall and prepared the main steps for their stone slabs.

All the new brickwork has been almost permanently shrouded in hessian, for what seems like weeks, to protect it from frost and rain. On Friday, when the sun actually shone all day, we had an unveiling ceremony, and it was worth the wait as I hope you can see in these photos.

Gone are the ugly ‘gravestones’,

but you might need to use a bit of imagination as the paths still need gravel and the area below the wall needs leveling, raking and re-seeding with grass seed, but I hope the photos give the general idea.

The slate man, along with his slates and roofing felt is coming on Wednesday, so lets hope the weather is kind and the roof trusses are in place by then.
